The University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified Higher educational institutions (HEIs) to spread awareness regarding the 8th consecutive year of Swachhata Pakhwada. The campaign has been organized since April 2016, with the initiative to maintain cleanliness at tourist attractions across India. The Pakhwada event will be conducted from 1 to 15 September 2023.
The MOE has further provided guidelines for the Swachhata Pakhwada event:
- The concerned Ministry/Department must ensure that all PSUs, attached offices, institutions, universities, and organizations must follow guidelines and implement plans for Swachhata Pakhwada.
- Plans under the campaign must include details like a list of activities with corresponding dates. Departments are instructed to ensure that activities are in line with their plans and discussion.
- The departments will further ensure that Swachhata Pakhwada activities are being publicized via electronic modes and print media platforms. The official social media accounts of the Government of India such as Twitter, Facebook, and myGov will also be used for this purpose.
The concerned departments are instructed to provide DDWS to Cabinet Secretary and PMOs. The report must contain a detailed account of all activities that will be conducted during Pukhwada. It should also include press notes, clippings, newspapers, and audio-visual clips.
Further, the report should consist of at least three Swachhata Pakhwada awardees with any special document released by Ministry/department during this event.
