THE Impact Ranking 2023: According to the results of the 2023 Times Higher Education Impact rankings, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore has been recognized as the best university in India. The university is ranked 52nd overall out of 1591 educational institutions spanning 112 different countries and regions.
Who topped THE Impact Rankings 2023 all over world? First place overall went to Western Sydney University, which was followed by Queen’s University in Canada and the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. The University of Tasmania finished in fifth position, while the University of Sains Malaysia came in fourth.
The efforts that Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has made to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (also known as SDGs) set out by the United Nations have set it apart from other educational institutions. Phil Baty, chief knowledge officer, believes that the fact that Indian universities are represented among the top 100 colleges illustrates “how seriously these institutions take those critically important goals.”
In 2019, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were used to create a ranking system for institutions called the Impact Rankings. There will be no poverty, no hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, industry innovations and infrastructure, reduced inequality, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice, and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals are some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) that have been established.
The method was developed in conjunction with Vertigo Ventures and Elsevier, in addition to the contributions of a number of academic institutions, trade groups, and universities. In order for universities to be considered for inclusion in the overall ranking table, they are required to report their progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as well as a minimum of three additional SDGs.
