The Australian Department of Home Affairs will no longer accept TOEFL iBT scores for immigration after July 26, 2023. However, valid TOEFL iBT scores will still be accepted for study visa applications. IELTS, including one-skill retakes, PTE, CAE, and OET are still accepted for visa categories. In an effort to simplify and improve reliability, the new TOEFL iBT was released on July 26. Australian Home Affairs is reviewing it now.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) for review
ETS launched the TOEFL Internet-Based Test on July 26 to enhance registration and testing. Australian universities accept TOEFL iBT scores before and after July 26. The Australian Department of Home Affairs will evaluate the updated version. Visa subclasses will accept valid TOEFL iBT scores.
Australian visas accept IELTS and PTE
Health professionals can apply for Australian visas with the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a one-skill retake, the Pearson Test of English (PTE), Cambridge English (CAE), or Occupational English Test (OET). IELTS test results with a one-skill retake are accepted by the Department except for certain visa subclasses.
