Health Minister Ma Subramanian said that applications for MBBS/BDS will be made available for students from next week. The state will conduct counseling for All India Quota seats.
The National Medical Commission is responsible for regulating medical education and practice, further instructed Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Medical Education that there will be no common counseling for MBBS admission according to Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023.
Counseling for 85% of seats in government medical colleges will be organized by the state selection committee while the medical counseling committee under the Directorate General of Health Sciences will conduct the first phase of counseling for 15% of seats for government medical colleges all over India.
The committee has provided a list of 698 colleges with a total of 1,06,933 seats for MBBS courses, out of these 11,625 seats from 74 colleges are government or self-financing medical institutions.
450 MBBS seats were added this year coming from three different colleges, consisting of two government and one private medical college, and 50 BDS seats from government dental institutions will be added soon.
