The National Medical Commission has just decided to remove the Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 2023. On June 12, the regulations referred to above for the GMER 2023 were released to the public.
According to the official notification, the guidelines that have been created in accordance with the Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023 were deemed “withdrawn and cancelled” with immediate consequences.
Students in GMER 2023 who performed badly on their annual exams asked that additional batch options be removed from their course options. In addition, the 82-page guidelines said that any student who registered for courses after August 30 would not be considered by the respective institutions for admission. The process of applying for admission will begin on August 1 and continue through August 30.
In the suggestions that were distributed on June 12, it was suggested that changes be made to Competency-Based Medical Education. The personnel criteria for research facilities at a medical college, the method for submitting information for admission, and the admission of students under the “Disability Category” in the MBBS curriculum were all modified.
These rules were in effect for students applying to the MBBS program for the academic year 2023-2024. According to the GMER 2023, the NEET UG tie-breaking mechanism should have prioritized students’ demonstration of proficiency in Physics and Chemistry rather than Biology.
