The day was created with the intention of drawing attention to and honoring the vital contributions given to the country by physicians and other healthcare professionals working in the healthcare industry. Doctor’s Day in 2023: A Brief History
Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy was a well-known physician and educator who served as West Bengal’s second chief minister from 1948 to 1962. In 1991, India introduced National Doctor’s Day as a way to honor Roy and recognize his contributions to healthcare. Through the whole of the Quit India Movement in 1942, he had shown personal concern for Gandhi and was a friend to him. In addition to this, he was responsible for the formation of a number of hospitals and medical colleges as well as the modification of the existing healthcare system.
Significance of Doctor’s Day in 2023
