The University Grant Commission on 23rd of June 2023 informed through a tweet that there would be a CUET Common Counseling Process for UG and PG admission. The UGC is preparing a new portal that will function from the next 2024-25 session. The new ‘CUET CCP’ will function like JoSSA and the merit will be based on the CUET score for 43 Central Universities separately.
The chairman of the University Commission (UGC) has said “Counseling Process in Central universities move to next level. Students need not register for individual central universities. The UGC Twitter handle quoted Mamidala’s words “ There will be a common Counseling for admission to All central Universities from next year via IT System”. A rule named “Central Counseling for all Central Universities” may be implemented.
Meaning hereby that The counseling process will be conducted in online mode fully and there will be only one Common Counseling Process for UG and PG courses.
For this, a new system is being prepared and once it is ready it will be launched. The new CUET Common Counseling Process will work like the IITs counseling Process Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA)
UGC Chief said that Many students had sent grievances to UGC that colleges and universities do not conduct admission counseling impartially. UGC Chief claimed, “new Common Counseling Process will be completely transparent”. UGC may keep a record of the data of students in which college and courses they got admission.
Once the process starts, admission will be much easier for students. A thousand seats of sc/st remained vacant in all universities totally. But After this, there will be very little chance to vacant the seat, once the CUET CCP functions.
UGC Chief, Mamidala shared the data “Admission for the 2023 session is going to happen through CUET UG in 250 Higher education Institutions including 43 Central Universities.CUET has become a very popular exam in the country.” HEIs enrollment data shows 70% of students study B.A, B.Sc., and B.Com at Undergraduate level.
The ‘Central Counseling for All Central Universities” rule will include Tie Breaking Policy also. According to the Tie Breaking Policy, Universities will have the power to grant admission on 12th merit in case of the same CUET score of two or more students.
